About WeddingCostEstimator

WeddingCostEstimator was built because most wedding budget tools online either show a single national average (meaningless) or require you to create an account before you see anything useful. Neither approach helps couples who are in the early stages of planning and just need a realistic number to work with.

Our wedding budget calculator gives you a full cost breakdown by guest count, venue type, wedding style, and US region — no account, no email, no upsell. The data behind it comes from The Knot 2024 Real Weddings Study and WeddingWire's national vendor pricing database, updated annually.

How We Build Our Cost Estimates

Every number in our calculator starts with primary-source data. We use The Knot Real Weddings Study — an annual survey of 10,000+ US couples — as our baseline for catering per-person costs and overall spending patterns. We layer in WeddingWire's national vendor pricing database to calibrate individual category costs (photography, florals, music, attire).

Regional cost differences are calculated using Bureau of Labor Statistics regional cost-of-living indices and cross-referenced against WeddingWire vendor data by market. The result is a regional multiplier that adjusts all vendor costs based on where your wedding will take place — because a Northeast hotel wedding and a Midwest barn wedding with the same guest count are not the same budget.

We update the underlying cost data each year after The Knot releases its annual study (typically Q1). Every major data revision is noted in our tool's last updated date.

Our Editorial Process

All cost estimates and blog content are reviewed against primary industry sources before publishing. We do not fabricate ratings, invent pricing data, or use estimates that cannot be traced to a verifiable source. Where ranges are used (e.g., "$100–$140 per person for mid-range catering"), they reflect the 25th to 75th percentile of vendor pricing in the relevant market — not the cheapest or most expensive options.

Our wedding planning blog covers cost breakdowns, vendor booking timelines, and practical budget strategies. Every article is written to answer a specific question a couple would actually search for — not to target keywords with generic content. We cite our sources and use real numbers throughout.

Who We Are

We are a small team focused on building practical tools for life's major financial decisions. WeddingCostEstimator.com is one of those tools. We have no advertisers influencing which venues or vendors we mention. We receive no referral fees. The calculator and blog exist to help couples plan accurately — nothing else.

Found an error in our data? Noticed a vendor cost that seems off in your market? We genuinely want to know. Reach us at contact@example.com.

Disclaimer: All cost estimates are for planning purposes only. Actual wedding costs vary by vendor, specific date, availability, and individual negotiation. Always get multiple vendor quotes before committing to any budget figure. Our estimates represent median market pricing — your actual quotes may be higher or lower.
